A special guest post today, from one of our favourite Vegan bloggers Little V Big V. Her blog is called Positive Plant-Based Parenting. It's all about cruelty-free living for vegans and future vegans big and small!

Little V and Big V recently reviewed Teaologists Matcha tea, and guess what...it was their first ever time trying Matcha. Here's what they had to say.

"I’ve never had matcha tea before – it’s one of those things in cafes that I glance at on the menu thinking next time I’ll give it a go. Thanks to Teaologists offering free samples I’ve finally caught up with this miracle tea.

For those like me who aren’t familiar with matcha, it’s a shockingly natural, powered green tea with multiple health benefits. Unlike standard green tea leaves, usually in tea bag form, that are steeped in boiling water then discarded, matcha powder is added and directly dissolved in hot (not boiled) water and whisked with a mini bamboo brush until you get a lovely froth. It’s a rather relaxing little ritual that I now start my mornings with.

Of course as with all foods, there are variations in quality, but Teaologists sells only the highest-grade powder. As an indication of quality, it’s the greener the better – and this stuff makes Shrek look pale and uninteresting. The good stuff contains 60 times more antioxidants than kale and spinach, and experts claim it leaves you with more energy and feeling more focused throughout the day. Having always suffered from a late afternoon slump, either at work, looking after kids or standing in front of a sky-high pile of ironing, I was amazed how 3 o’clock, then 4, passed without me reaching for a strong coffee for a reboot.

Apart from the clean, fresh taste, another pleasant effect is how calm I feel when drink it, even though it is a caffeine-enriched drink. This is the L-theanine that matcha tea contains, an amino acid that induces relaxation without drowsiness. L-theanine has been studied for its possible positive effects to reduce mental and physical stress as well as improve cognitions and boost moods. All things that are needed in my life, especially when I am at my most charming and personable at a particular time of the month.

Matcha is a versatile ingredient that you can add to smoothies as well in pancake mix. You can sprinkle it on your porridge or even make matcha cakes and ice cream – a great way to introduce your kids to the flavour and benefits. Just search for #matcha on Instagram and see the amazing array of creations. For me, taking a few minutes to make and enjoy this very special tea can’t be beaten – for my mind, my body and my sanity!"
