Lockdowns, at-home workplaces and social distancing are the new normal. They seem to be here to stay, and there isn’t much you can do about it, as the threat of Coronavirus is still very real. However, improving your immunity to keep Covid-19 at bay is the most important thing to do for your body now, especially if you happen to work in an industry where work from home is not possible.

Here are a few ways matcha green tea can help boost your immunity and overall health.

Inhibiting the growth of viruses and bacteria - One of the advantages of matcha green tea is that it has antimicrobial properties, which can slow down the growth of viruses and bacteria in the body. The catechins in matcha alter the functions of viruses and bacteria and can reduce the risk of infection to a great degree.

Boosting immunity through antioxidants - Matcha tea powder is packed with antioxidants, particularly Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) which helps your body produce T-Cells. These cells are your body’s protection against inflammation and pathogens. Also, matcha can remove toxins from your body, improve your digestion, and wipe out all the foreign matter from your respiratory system.

Helping your liver - The liver helps our body eliminate toxins, process nutrients and even metabolise drugs. One of the greatest benefits of matcha tea is helping your liver stay in top shape.

Improving your respiratory health - Some studies have shown that caffeine can help improve lung function. Caffeine has some properties in common with a drug called theophylline, which was used to treat asthma long before the modern medicines for asthma were developed. Matcha contains a healthier dose of caffeine than coffee and unlike coffee, it doesn’t cause jitters or a crash.

Reducing inflammation in your body - The high concentration of EGCG, coupled with the detoxifying properties of chlorophyll in matcha tea can help stop the production of some inflammatory chemicals in the body, helping your body fight pain and feel better.

Helping to keep your blood pressure in check - High blood pressure is known as the silent killer, due to the fact that most people who suffer from it, don’t even know it. High blood pressure or hypertension often has very few symptoms until things are dangerously close to getting out of hand. Drinking matcha green tea regularly can help manage your blood pressure levels.
