Achieve Great Abs with Matcha. For Real.

Those who are in their 20s or early 30s today, have a better chance of building and maintaining a flat belly. Why you ask? It’s because of the availability of Matcha green tea, which, previous generations had little to no access to.

Matcha tea has been on the rise in the UK for the past few years and today it’s one of the most popular beverages. Its popularity is just soaring, which is good for your abs because it’s probably the most efficient stomach fat-burning product on the planet.

A study was conducted on 1,100 people for an entire decade by Taiwanese researchers. The researchers found that the people who drank green tea on a regular basis had almost 20% less body fat than those who drank green tea only occasionally.

In a different study which was conducted in Sweden, researchers found that those who consumed green tea instead of water with their meals, felt less hungry than those who didn’t.

What’s The Secret behind This?

According to the Molecular Nutrition and Food Research, volume 56, 2012, EGCG enhances the growth of neural cells, improving cognitive function and memory.

 

There’s a compound in Matcha green tea called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). EGCG is a highly powerful antioxidant. Some studies have shown that the EGCG content in Matcha is much higher, in fact a whopping 137 times higher than that of regular green tea.

Although the precise correlation between EGCG and weight loss hasn’t been determined yet (research is ongoing), it has been shown in some studies to have the ability to enhance the breakdown of fat in the body (a process named lipolysis) and prevent adipogenesis (the process of forming new cells).

With that said, here are a few ideas to maximise Matcha’s benefit on your belly fat reducing efforts. These will help you build abs and keep them in shape.

Make It a Pre and Post-Workout Drink

Matcha can be a great energy and endurance booster before your workout and it’s just as good at soothing your fatigue after your workout. A study found that for participants who added 4-5 cups of green tea every day with a 25-minute workout, the weight loss was, on an average, 2 pounds greater than those who exercised for the same amount of time but didn’t take green tea.

Another study found that men who drank green tea for three months on a regular basis, lost twice as much weight and four times as much belly fat than another set of participants.

Add It to Your Smoothie

Few, very few things are healthier than a Matcha smoothie. Build a morning habit of drinking a Matcha smoothie every day and you will be healthier, more productive at work, and better at dealing with stress.

Avoid Dairy Products

According to a study published in the European Heart Journal, whilst tea can actually improve blood flow throughout the body and blood vessel dilation (which reduces your blood pressure), adding dairy to tea is counterproductive to these benefits.

Power It Up With Lemon

Add a dash of lemon to the Matcha before you drink it. Researchers at Purdue University have found that adding lemon juice preserved the polyphenols (EGCG) in Matcha. Great news right?

Pair With Sushi

A study in the International Journal of Molecular Science stated that omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids such as those that are found in fish have the ability to augment the bioavailability as well as efficacy of EGCG. No wonder, it’s a popular practice in Japan to eat sushi with Matcha tea.
