How to Use Matcha Green Tea to Get Glowing, Flawless Skin

With enough health benefits to be called the superhero of green teas, Matcha can be just what your skin needs to feel refreshed, look brighter, and even slow down the visible effects of ageing.

Almost everyone who has an interest in leading a healthy lifestyle has heard of Matcha green tea and may have consumed it too, in the form of a latte, a smoothie or in the traditional way – from a bowl.

Now perhaps it’s time to take it to the next level. The amazing beauty benefits of Matcha tea can give your skin a beautiful glow on the outside and rich nourishment on the inside.

Here’s how:

By Detoxifying

3-4 weeks before harvest, the camellia sinensis plant (the plant that Matcha comes from) is covered with a thick cover to protect it from sunlight. This leads to an increased production of chlorophyll in the leaves of the plant. The increased chlorophyll turns the leaves a darker shade of green, but also does much, much more. It makes Matcha tea a powerful detoxifier for your body, eliminating all toxins and impurities from your system, thereby making your skin radiant.

By Reducing the Harmful Effect of UV Rays

The antioxidants in Matcha such as catechins and polyphenols fight against the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays on your skin. They combat free radicals as well, practically shielding your skin from the damage that extreme weather conditions can cause.

These same antioxidants work hard to protect your skin from acne, roughness, blemishes etc. They retain skin moisture and make the skin naturally smooth and firm.

By Being Naturally Antibiotic

Matcha contains vitamins A and C, protein, calcium, iron, and potassium. Each of these organic substances are effective natural antibiotics. They act as cleansing agents, blood purifiers, blemish solvers, and natural moisturisers. Not only do they clean your system from within, they smooth the skin, boost your skin’s elasticity and improve suppleness.

Matcha Face Mask

You can get instant glow and healthier, lovelier skin with this Matcha and honey face mask at home. It contains bananas which are great for organic skincare. Bananas contain lots of potassium, along with vitamins A, B and E which means they are a powerhouse of beauty benefits.

So the ingredients you need to make this mask are:

  • Bananas – 2
  • Matcha powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Non-vegan honey – 1 teaspoon (go for local, raw honey)

How to make it:

  • Mash the bananas with a fork until they become smooth
  • Add the Matcha and honey, and mix well

How to use it:

  • Apply it all over your face and rinse it off using lukewarm water
  • Then rinse it again with cold water

The potassium in the bananas hydrates your skin and the vitamins eliminate dry, rough patches from it to make it smooth and firm. Bananas help remove dark spots as well.

Raw honey is a natural antibacterial that will clean out your pores and Matcha will act as a stimulant to remove dull, dead skin cells.

This is a great homemade face mask for acne.

Whether you are a busy professional, a student, a housewife, an entrepreneur or a sportsperson, you can give your skin the boost of the same nutrients of Matcha that keep you healthy, happy, calm, and focused from within.
